A Sahara luxury expedition from Marrakech is a bespoke four to seven-day journey by Range Rover Autobiography or V-Class VIP convoy, taking principals from Marrakech through Aït Benhaddou and Ouarzazate to the dunes of Merzouga in Erg Chebbi. The convoy stops at curated luxury desert camps with en-suite tent suites, Michelin private chefs, Berber music under the stars and camel sunset rides. Noor Concierge orchestrates every detail — from helicopter transfers to close-protection through our sister maison Noor Security. Indicative budget: from €6,500 for a 4-day expedition.
Classic itinerary
The 4-day expedition, hour by hour
Day 1 · Marrakech to Ouarzazate
Departure from your riad at 8am. Crossing the Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260m — High Atlas peaks, Berber villages, photo stops. Lunch at a panoramic restaurant overlooking the valley. Afternoon arrival at Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO World Heritage, set of Gladiator and Game of Thrones). Sunset dinner and overnight at Hôtel La Maison du Désert or equivalent in Ouarzazate.
Day 2 · Ouarzazate to Merzouga
Morning visit of Atlas Studios (optional). Eastward drive through the Drâa Valley palm groves, the Todra Gorges (1,500ft red cliffs), and the Berber villages of Tinghir. Late afternoon arrival at the edge of Erg Chebbi. Camel transfer (or 4×4 transfer) to your luxury desert camp. Berber tea ceremony, sunset over the dunes, dinner under the stars and traditional Gnawa music around the fire.
Day 3 · Sahara day
Sunrise from a private dune (4×4 transfer at 5:30am if requested). Late morning private breakfast at the camp. Choose between sand-boarding, camel rides, a guided meditation walk in the dunes, or simply silence in your private pavilion. Lunch at the camp. Afternoon visit of a Berber nomad family (with respect — never as tourists). Sunset ride. Private dinner served on your dune by your dedicated team.
Day 4 · Return to Marrakech
Sunrise breakfast at the camp. Camel transfer back to the convoy. Long return drive via Ouarzazate and Tizi n'Tichka — or, optional helicopter transfer back to Marrakech-Menara (1h45 flight, weather permitting). Arrival at your riad before sunset, with a final aperitif on the rooftop.

Frequently asked
What does a luxury Sahara expedition from Marrakech include?+
A complete bespoke journey from your Marrakech riad to the dunes of Merzouga and back. Range Rover Autobiography or V-Class VIP convoy, English-speaking chauffeur-guides, overnight stops at the finest properties of Aït Benhaddou and Ouarzazate, full board at a luxury desert camp (private tent, en-suite, Berber tea ceremony, dinner under the stars), camel sunset rides, Berber music, sand-boarding, and the option of a helicopter transfer for the return.
How long does a Sahara expedition take from Marrakech?+
Four to seven days, fully bespoke. The classic four-day itinerary covers Marrakech → Aït Benhaddou → Ouarzazate → Merzouga (two nights at the camp) → return via Tizi n'Tichka pass. Seven-day itineraries add the Drâa Valley, Skoura palm grove, the Todra Gorges and a stop at Fès on the return.
Which luxury desert camps do you work with?+
We coordinate with the most discreet camps in Erg Chebbi — including Erg Chigaga Luxury Camp, Sahara Luxury Camp, Azalai Desert Camp and a curated list of fully privatised camps for family offices and royal protocol. Tent suites are en-suite with hot showers, four-poster beds, Berber rugs and private dining pavilions.
Can you arrange a private chef in the desert?+
Yes. Michelin-trained chefs accompany the convoy with full kitchen logistics. Tasting menus are designed in advance with your dietary briefing — halal, kosher, vegetarian, allergies — and served in your private pavilion or under the stars on your private dune.
What about helicopter transfers?+
Yes. For principals who do not wish to spend two days driving each way, we coordinate helicopter transfers from Marrakech-Menara directly to a desert helipad near Merzouga. The flight takes approximately one hour and forty-five minutes, with one fuel stop at Ouarzazate. Available year-round, weather permitting.
Do you provide close-protection during the expedition?+
Yes. Through our sister maison Noor Security we deploy certified close-protection officers for the duration of the expedition — including overnight static security at the camp, advance teams on the convoy route and direct liaison with Royal Gendarmerie for protocol movements.
What is the indicative cost?+
Reference budgets for fully orchestrated expeditions: €6,500 for a 4-day classic convoy in Range Rover Autobiography (party of 2), €8,800 for a 5-day extended itinerary, €14,000+ for a 7-day full Drâa Valley + Fès route (party of 4 with V-Class), and on quote for fully privatised camps and royal protocol details. Exclusive of helicopter and third-party costs.
When is the best time to go?+
October to April is the most agreeable. Daytime temperatures sit between 18°C and 28°C, nights are cool. The Sahara is operational year-round but July and August see daytime temperatures above 45°C — most UHNW guests prefer the shoulder seasons.
